oMg...bIOfILM

soooo, I guess fluoride killed the cavity market and Scope caught up with Listerine in the plaque department. Now Listerine is advertising is penetrates and kills biofilm.
really? gottagetsumathatstuff!

had a dentist years ago do me a "favor" during a very expensive under the gum line deep cleaning. Since I was paying cash, he offered to smooth out a small chip on the corner of one of my front teeth. Something made me uneasy about that at the time, but what the heck it was free.

It took me about a month to relearn how to whistle.

Waiting for the green on green action to slowly unfold

Wind farms are good .... bad....good for the environment.

California's attempts to switch to green energy have inadvertently put the survival of the state’s golden eagles at risk.

Scores of the protected birds have been dying each year after colliding with the blades of about 5,000 wind turbines

‘It would take 167 pairs of local nesting golden eagles to produce enough young to compensate for their mortality rate related to wind energy production,’ field biologist Doug Bell, manager of East Bay Regional Park District's wildlife programme, told the Los Angeles Times. ‘We only have 60 pairs,’ he added'
Well, if no one saw it...it didn't happen
‘A wind farm owner once told me that if there were no witnesses, it would be impossible to prove a bird had been killed by a wind turbine blade'
Somebody managed to catch this one on video:

I found some incentive for the bird loving greens to do some video work against those evil wind farm greens capitalists from teh law.

§ 668. Bald and golden eagles

(Whoever, within the United States or any place subject to the jurisdiction thereof, without being permitted to do so as provided in this subchapter, shall knowingly, or with wanton disregard for the consequences of his act take, possess, sell, purchase, barter, offer to sell, purchase or barter, transport, export or import, at any time or in any manner, any bald eagle commonly known as theAmerican eagle, or any golden eagle, alive or dead, or any part, nest, or egg thereof of the foregoing eagles, or whoever violates any permit or regulation issued pursuant to this subchapter, shall be fined not more than $5,000 or imprisoned not more than one year or both: Provided, That in the case of a second or subsequent conviction for a violation of this section committed after October 23, 1972, such person shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than two years, or both: Provided further, That the commission of each taking or other act prohibited by this section with respect to a bald or golden eagle shall constitute a separate violation of this section: Provided further, That one-half of any such fine, but not to exceed $2,500, shall be paid to the person or persons giving information which leads to conviction: Provided further, That nothing herein shall be construed to prohibit possession or transportation of any bald eagle, alive or dead, or any part, nest, or egg thereof, lawfully taken prior to June 8, 1940, and that nothing herein shall be construed to prohibit possession or transportation of any golden eagle, alive or dead, or any part, nest, or egg thereof, lawfully taken prior to the addition to this subchapter of the provisions relating to preservation of the golden eagle

pass the popcorn.

What a hard life, eh?

I took this photos last night and this morning.

Miss Kitty has it rough.  She sleeps in a recliner on a handmade blanket.  When she's not snuggled on the recliner, she's laying across my legs, making my feet go to sleep in the process.  She's a heavy cat but oh so beautiful.  No wonder Romeo is so in love with her.

Life is tough when you're a pampered pet.  I think in my next life, I want to come back as a cat.

Saw a new Nike "just do it" commercial this evening

Really well done. Skateboard tricks, snowboard tricks, bike tricks, surfboard tricks etc. Inspirational.
Problem is kids will try to "go big" before they've mastered the small. The video below is not the commercial.
It's the result of going big too soon. It's also a testament as to why pads and helmets are a really good idea.

We need Rain

It's been a long dry spring.
30% chance so says the weather report, but this all we have so far. This is pathetic.

Hark!

I hear thunder outside.  Actual thunder!

We are in a serious drought here and so it's like music to my ears.

Talk about dumb.......

Okay, so yesterday while I was at the range, my men were done shooting and were waiting on me to finish up the box of ammo.

While, they weren't rushing me, I still felt the need to be in sort of a hurry because I don't like to have people standing around waiting on me, I tend to do my best not to encroach on other people's time.  People who are constantly late or people who meander around slowly (like in the grocery store) and won't get out of the way or speed up, in other words, people who waste my or other people's time are simply rude.

I digress, so back to the story.....    I was kind of in a hurry yesterday so that my guys wouldn't get tired of waiting on me and I did a not so bright thing.  Well okay two not so bright things.

First thing I did was pick up a spent casing while it was still hot.  Of course I didn't realize it was still hot, but I was trying to move it out of my way so that I could lay my gun on the bench.  I picked it up and quickly dropped it.  It left a nice little blister on my thumb and first finger.

Second dumb thing that I did was, I pulled the trigger even though I knew that I didn't seat my long gun properly against my shoulder.  It didn't feel quite right, yet I fired anyway and this is what happened...

So, I'm a little sore today.

What was really stupid (other than the obvious) is that I freaking KNEW better.

Moral of the story, when you're at the range, NEVER allow yourself to feel rushed.

Target Art

Belle was looking at one of her targets and commented that it looked like a little man running.
So, with a little Gimp enhancement I present "running man chasing bullet hole"

(I don't think I'll be quiting my day job just yet.)

Range Report from the Belle - 2

Well, what a great time I had at the range today.  The Tokorev kept wanting to jamb up so we ended up just breach loading, which was actually much easier and quicker than constantly having to clear the rifle over and over again.

Today, the son and the hubby went with me.  We shot 60 rounds of ammo, though 40 of the 60 were mine as the men's shoulders were getting a bit sore.  The last round the son shot really hurt him as he didn't seat the rifle properly and it caught his collar bone (ouch).  I'm not sure if he'll bruise up or not, time will tell on that one.

The hubby just hasn't been shooting as often as me and so his rifle shoulder is a bit out of shape.  I'm sure that I will feel sore later but for now, I'm just feeling all warm and fuzzy over all, because I shot really well today.  In fact, when we got home I said, "AH What shooty goodness!"

So here are a few pics for your amusement and for you to ooo and ahhh over (okay, just kidding, really)

First up, it's the shooters...........

Me, of course

My favorite son, well okay he's my only son but a good guy none the less!

And my better half, the devilishly handsome KX59.

I am really thankful that my two men are so patient.  They stood around after they were done while I finished off the last box of ammo.  They were ever so patient and were really good about making my morning a fun one!

So, we were able to get our targets this time and I brought them home.

First up we have a shared target between my favorite son and I, this was before the first target change time out. (you can of course click to make bigger).

Next target is mine alone from the second target.  I was very pleased with  my grouping in the middle.  We've figured out that our sights or either off, or because it's made for long range shooting that perhaps we're shooting too close in.  We were at 25 yards this time, I think next time I will try her at 50.

The next targets are my better half's all to himself.  First and second targets, respectively.  He did really well, I thought.

All in all, it was a pretty good day.  Very little wind.  I am definitely getting the gunsmith to look at the sights to be sure that they're sighted in correctly.

What a wonderful day so far and it's sure to only get better!
