To Dart or Not to Dart......

That is the question.

I really want to go and play darts tonight I just don't know if I really have the energy.

This morning, I got up early and went to referee a swim meet.  It was HOT today.  After the meet, I came home and showered, took a short nap, then went to birthday party, which of course was mostly outdoors AGAIN.

I'm pretty darn tired.  Maybe within the next 1/2 hour or so I will get a second wind and be able to head out to play.  We shall see.

Dammit I want to sleep on the cow peel

My little Poodle, Penny has been using the hubby as a Poodlevator since I brought her home.

She's a toy Poodle and very sweet, but she would walk up to him to be lifted to the couch.  She would, for whatever reason, bypass me and go to him to be picked up.

Finally, the hubby grew tired of it (because every time one of us got up from the couch, so would she, only to want to be lifted yet again) and stopped picking her up so she was forced to snuggle up in her bed on the floor because she just doesn't like to come to me to be picked up and placed on the couch.

So a few minutes ago, Penny decided that she would reveal her secret to us.  She jumped onto the loveseat all by herself and curled up to go to sleep.

We always assumed that she just couldn't jump that high, which is why hubby consented to lifting her to the couch.  I guess she fooled us!

Here is a pic of Penny sleeping on the cow peel.  For new readers, if you want a reference to why I'm calling it a cow peel, go here, it's entertaining.

She's a sweet little poodle.

From my niece's Facebook wall......

i been to a lot of places, but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone. I've also never been in Cognito, either. I hear no one recognizes you there. I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport, you have to be driven there. I've made several trips.

Crime Doesn't Pay

Well at least not if you're going to break into a house in the state of Texas.  You know, we Texans tend to arm ourselves.  Of course who would have thought this jackwagon would break into a cop's house.

I wish this would happen to criminals more often, maybe they would stop committing these types of crimes!

You can't fix stupid, but you can vote it out

Not quite "linky no thinky" but close enough...
I got this chain email from my bud Billy Joe Flowers (not his real name)
Not new, I know but I like the statement of fact and the juxtaposition, so instead of forwarding the email I thought I'd just post it for both of my readers.

Wal-Mart vs.The Morons
1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart every hour of every day.

2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!

3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St.
Patrick's Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.

4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger +
Target + Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined.

5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people, is the world's
largest private employer, and most speak English.

6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world.

7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and
Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years.

8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains
sought bankruptcy.

9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.

10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of
which 2,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than
it had five years ago.

11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing
experiences will occur at Wal-Mart stores.
(Earth's population is approximately 6.5 Billion.)

12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart.

13. Wal-Mart has gross sales that total more than the
total revenue of all the countries in the world, except 6.

You may think that I am complaining, but I am
really laying the ground work for suggesting that
MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Wal-Mart to fix the economy.

This should be read and understood by all Americans
Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!!

To the President and all 535 voting members
of the Legislature, both parties.

It is now official - you are ALL corrupt morons:

a. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775.
You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.

b. Social Security was established in 1935.
You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.

c. Fannie Mae was established in 1938.
You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.

d. War on Poverty started in 1964.
You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion
of our money is confiscated each year
and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.

e. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965.
You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.

f. Freddie Mac was established in 1970.
You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.

g. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to
lessen our dependence on foreign oil.
It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a
budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before.
You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

!!!You have FAILED !!!
in every "government service" you have shoved
down our throats while overspending our tax dollars.

AND YOU WANT AMERICANS
TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED
WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM ??

YOU THINK YOU CAN RUN THE
AUTO INDUSTRY.... THE BANKING SYSTEM?????

MAYBE WE OUGHT TO KICK YOUR EGG-HEAD
BUDDY BUMS OUT OF OFFICE AND
HIRE WALMART TO RUN THE GOVERNMENT ???

WALMART SEEMS TO KNOW HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS...
WHY DON'T YOU GUYS JUST ADMIT
IT'S WAY BEYOND YOUR PAY GRADE, AND QUIT?

"You can't fix stupid,
but you can vote it out."

Yeah I bet men were falling all over themselves to get a date with this one!

Okay, I don't think that this is real.  It looks like it's just a joke, however, in case it is.....   beware of the creepy cat girl!

I mean, I love cats but WOW!  This is over the top.

Airborne Angels

Several days ago An Ordinary American posted an article on The Airborne Angels.

Simply put, these women are amazing and what they do for our men and women who are serving overseas is simply wonderful.

I encourage you to please go to AOM's web page and read his article about these caring women, who work so hard to give our men and woman a little piece of home.

AOM has The Airborne Angels' website linked in his article and I encourage you to please go and read that as well.

I know that times are tough but if you can spare a little something, on the Angels' website there is a donation button, please give what you can.

Miss kitty maneuvers for alpha female

She is laying on the back of the couch above Belles head and whipping her tail.
Miss Kitty is a manx alley cat mix. She did not inherit the stub tail. She has about two cats worth of tail.
I didn't realize she was there. Belle commented that she was whipping her tail to get Belle to MOVE...because MISS KITTY was trying to sleep.
miss kitty kept whipping her tail, Belle complained, so I solved the problem.
I did what any man would do, I pulled Miss Kitty's tail.
Cat meowed. Belle immediately turned and said, " IT WASN'T ME!"
Cat is now laying on the recliner foot rest between Belle's leg's.
Problem solved.

Good Day and Good Food

This morning, I drove to to Hempstead and went to the Farmer's market there. I was literally in produce heaven. They had all kinds of home grown produce at wonderful prices. One of the first things that caught my eye were the giant watermelons. Hempstead is famous for their tasty watermelons so into my cart went a nice sized watermelon. Another thing that caught my eye were the strawberries. I bought a huge container of them of and when I got home, I had a nice bowl of them for a juicy snack.

They were so juicy I needed a napkin as the juice ran down my hand when I bit into them.

I also bought some zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce, cucumber and some other odds and ends, including strawberry jam (locally made) and local honey.

One thing really caught my eye when I was there and when I spotted them from across the aisle my eyes lit up and I raced over to grab some up. Green tomatoes. You cannot find green tomatoes anywhere around here unless you go to a farmer's market.

I picked out some of them and brought them home and made fried green tomatoes. I think that I am in fried food paradise at this very moment.

Here are the tomatoes all sliced up and seasoned with Tony Chachare's Cajun seasoning or plain old salt and pepper works well, too:

Then, I take each one and coat them in a flour and italian seasoning mix, then make up an egg & milk batter and dip them in that, then coat them again in the flour mix. I fry them up in olive oil, turning when browned, then pulling them out when browned on the second side.

They are fabulous.

Yummy fried goodness.

This has been bouncing around my brain pan for days

Al Fin has had several posts about artificial intelligence on his blog over the past one or two weeks regarding the limitations, and in his opinion wrong directions taken in programming an ai equal to the human brain.
Personally, I think trying to program ai is a stupid idea. I was going to use a five dollar phrase like "patently bad", but stupid works just fine.
It is mental masturbation in it's highest form. I'm not saying that some highly useful algorithms won't fall out of it, but I think the unintended consequences could be horrific.
To write an algorithm that mimics the logical functions of the brain is doable I think.
Imagine a highly logical ai with no compassion, no empathy, no judgement, and no love.
Imagine that AI chauffeuring you in your car. It is impossible to write code to cover every conceivable and inconceivable circumstance.
I felt compelled to post a comment at Al's place regarding this, but couldn't bring the words together so I let it go. But apparently my brain did not.
I was reading blogs and happened to look up at the TV this evening, where I saw a robot limping - the terminator movie..a robot limping...
This brought my random thoughts together regarding AI.
And I thought, g'head, teach a robot to limp in spite of an injury/malfunction.
Or how about teach a computer to solve a problem with insufficient information and tools. Teach an ai how to wake up in the middle of the night with the answer to the problem.
I'm not saying we shouldn't try, but my gut tells me it is a fools errand. Either from the standpoint that it is unattainable, or unintended consequences.

postcript: I had to edit AI as the font made it appear that Al was chauffeuring your car, due to the font
