My turn for a rant

Hubby put himself in a time out after his epic rant the other day about some folks out there saying that they may just stay home this next election rather than getting the Golfer in Chief out of office.

Today it's my turn to rant a little so fasten your seatbelts, this could be a bumpy ride.

I am getting so freaking sick and tired of a tiny minority of people who hold a point of view, force their views on the majority of us, via laws and regulations.  The EPA, the TSA, the FDA, the FCC, etc. etc. etc.  the list goes on and on.

How in the hell did we get here, to this place, where we as Americans will just bend over and take it up the ass simply because a bunch of elitist buffoons thinks that they know better than we we do?

How in the hell have we allowed a handful of murderous thugs create such a sense of insecurity in our Nation that now we are forced into humilition simply to travel in our own country?

How in the hell have we allowed ourselves to slowly become wards of the state, to where so many people just want freebies, whether its free food, or free birth control, or simply getting paid for losing your job?

How in the hell have we as citizens, slowly become subjects?  How is it that we have become so complacent that we have allowed our basic freedoms to be slowly stripped away?

I am just really sick and tired of it all.  They want to strip me of my freedom of thought, my freedom of speech, my freedom to practice my religion, my freedom to defend my own life.....   and the list goes on and on....

Right now, there is a battle going on about voters presenting valid, photo identification to vote.  Why is it that to buy a car, or a home or to write a check, you have to have photo ID but not to vote?  WTF?

Most states, by law require everyone within that state to carry photo ID on their person at all times, so who exactly are you disenfrancising should you require it to be presented to vote?

I'm completely angry over the state of things in this country right now.  Democrats and Republicans have been force feeding us bullshit for ages now.  Neither party are any good, just one wants to tell me what fucking light bulbs to use; the other wants to tell me who I can or can't have in my bed.

Both parties; however, want to take away my rights and both have done a great job of peeling them away like the layers of an onion.

Im sick of it.  They need to be voted out....  every single one of them, including the Golfer and his Jet Thief wife.  Folks, it is time to take a stand.

/end rant

New Lady Shooter - Maura Welcome!

I have been kind of slacking on my blog posting and reading lately.  Just kind of taking a little break from it.

Maura sometimes contributes to North's blog and she is new to shooting and had been literally afraid of guns in the past.  You can go here to read all about it.

I am so happy to see yet another woman take it upon herself to learn how to shoot and especially one who had a fear to over come.

Maura, hats off to you my friend.  I couldn't be more thrilled.  Now a whole new world of confidence and liberation (in a good way) will open up to you.

Top Shot Season 4 - 3/20 episode

Nothing better than firing cannons at a target.  Yes, they used cannons and it was pretty darn cool.

The red team lost again, but it was a close match.  Once again, they didn't send their girl to the elimination round, which I was glad to see.

Maybe History Channel has been listening!

Seriously though, the elimination round was also pretty darned cool.  They used an atlatl to hit a target.

That weapon, primitive as it is, is nothing to sneeze at.  The spears take very little effort to throw with it so even a little guy can hurl a spear at 100mph with very little effort.

I think that they've really kept the drama down this season.  I must have been the only one to write to History Channel regarding that.

I still don't have a favorite because in my opinion, both groups all seem to be decent people.  There's not a decided 'villian' this season as there was in past seasons.  Maybe Jakeass was the last straw for their viewers?

Son's Moving Out

My boss sent this to me today it made me laugh out loud.

Two men were having coffee when one of them said:  "Last night my son just walked into the living room and said, 'Dad, cancel my allowance immediately, rent my room, throw all my clothes out the window, take my TV, stereo, iPhone, iPod, and my laptop.  Please give my jewelry to the Salvation Army.  Then, sell my car.  Take my front-door key away from me and throw me out of the house.  Then disown me and never talk to me again.  And don't forget to write me out of your will and leave my share to my brother.'"

The other man said:  "Wow, he really said that?"

"Well, he didn't put it quite that way.  He actually said, 'Dad, I've decided to work for Obama's reelection campaign.'"

2012

With out a doubt, this is a make or break year for us.  For humankind for that matter.  This Grand Experiment we call The United States of America is at stake. Isolate this thought in your mind. Never in the History of man's existence on this planet has a Country like this existed.
Ever.
Never has the opportunity to rise from nothing  to opulence like this existed in all the history of Man.
On a smaller scale, never has the opportunity existed to rise from poverty to a comfortable living in which you don't have to dodge bullets or dig in the mud with a stick for survival existed.
Ever.
I've read numerous posts by my fellow bloggers about how they would vote for Obama simply because they don't like any of the Republican contenders. Simply to bring it to a swifter end.   Or, how they are just going to sit this one out entirely and not vote.
Fine.
Go ahead, give up.
Don't bother to vote in all the local and state elections, nor for the dismal choices we have for President. Sit home and collect ammo and prep for the Zombie Apocalypse. Build your bunker.
How long can you hold out?
You will slip on the muddy bank of the livestock tank eventually and impale yourself on a stick. Infection will set in, and you will die.
You will get a cavity which leads to an abscessed tooth, and you will die. A feral dog will bite you and you will die. (you get the point by now I'm sure)
No matter how fortified your environs are, no matter how much ammo you've stockpiled, no matter how much food you have stockpiled, your life, and more importantly, your children's lives will be shit.
Fight the political battle.  Tap into your fight or flight response and fight the political battle.
Otherwise, your children will be digging in the mud with sticks.

A Bit of Tab Clearing

Last summer I posted about how we had no honey bees to pollinate our miserable attempt at a vegetable garden.  Apparently one cause for the Bee depopulation as been uncovered.

Depopulation of the less useful insects that inhabit the U.N., on the other hand would be a good thing.  It just galls me that we support, with our tax dollars, an organization full of American hating tin horn dictators.  Very little truth regarding the U.N. ever leaks out into the U.S. mainstream media. When it does, it's usually by accident.  Ion Mihai Pacepa provides a cold, hard look at the U.N., from the inside. Go, read. It will confirm every negative thing you ever thought about the U.N. I actually said, "wow", no really, I did.

Bouncing back to the "more useful" meme, I stumbled across a useful website for 'puter stuff named MakeUseOf.  Of particular interest to me, was the cheat sheet for Gimp, along with cheat sheets for a number of other programs.  Gimp is a free photo editor for linux.  Around the same time I discovered there's a windows version of Gimp as well, also free.  I'm not quite groking the Gimp business model; "Let's code a highly sophisticated photo editing software and give it away for FREE!" Now, mind you I am not complaining. Karma being what it is, I probably shouldn't type this, but sometimes...there is a free lunch.

Some men are "Sweet Talkers", some are "Sleep Talkers". I rarely remember my dreams. (Well, I just assume I dream...)  Belle frequently remembers hers.  Recounts of the previous night's imaginary adventures while getting ready for work are quite amusing at times.  It really ramps up when she's in the 'trying to quit smoking' cycle and taking Chantix.  This guy, though, must sleep in outer space every night...SleepTalkingMan

In the back of my mind, I've always known I was just treading water

2 to 3% inflation per year doesn't sound all that bad does it. Unfortunately it compounds just like savings interest.  It's always been tough to stay afloat much less get ahead.  From time to time I think about this.  The other day I got curious as to whether my intuition was correct and found this little calculator.
So just for the sake of discussion, let's say my gross income the year my daughter was born - 1989, was $70,000.  To have the same buying power in 2010 I'd have to make $121,492.
This gives me an idea for a new X-Game, Up Hill Snow Boarding.

Top Shot Season 4... 3/13/12

Well I have to give kudos to the red team for not sending their girl to the elimation round.  Maybe there's hope for this show after all.. :)

Actually, she's a pretty decdent shot and so I'm glad that the guys on her team can appreciate that.

Kx is all down and out about Top Shot, but I still like the show.

Top Shot on tonight

4th? 5th season?
My interest wanes. The interviews, the jinned up drama.
oh, and never, never, ever coach someone when they are on the line. Unless axed.
Bad etiquette.

Plural of Prius?

Prii?
Cruising at 75 mph on the way home today (man I love spring break, traffic's light) I got passed by two of them. Tailgated by one of them.   Nothing piques the kx59 stubborn streak like a tailgater.  Tailgater was a young guy, with a girl in the car.  The ubiquitous internet word "Really?" came to mind.  I don't know, maybe groovy hippie chicks are impressed by a guy driving a Prius ridiculously fast.
Either Prius drivers have something to prove, or figure they get such good gas mileage standing on the throttle ad infinitum doesn't matter.
Hmmm, curious about the specs on this hybrid: curb weight 3980 lbs. Holey crap.  That's 1000 lbs. heavier than my tC, and not a heck of a lot lighter than the Astro beater Van.
4 Cylinder 1.8 Liter engine.  Horsepower: 134. Torque: 105 foot pounds.  (I wonder how long it takes to get up to 80 mph in a Prii...)
Oh. Wait. That explains a lot. Once you get that mass moving, you don't want to lose the momentum. Kinda like driving the Astro Van.

The name, "Prius", is latin for "before"**.  Awesome, way to go marketing people. Your car name is a preposition.

**According to Wikipedia. I claim no knowledge of dead languages.
