Health warning.......

Do not eat cantaloupe grown in Colorado.  I believe the news guy said Rocky Ford cantaloupes in particular.  They are carrying a bacteria that has caused illness and 4 deaths.

  1. Don't tell that to our cantaloupe plant! There's three cantaloupes off of it in our fridge, and a couple in my belly...

  3. I trust no cantaloupes not grown in Texas, and in particular from Knox County--home of the Watermelon Festival.

For the unwashed amongst us, Knox County has the most gawd awful drinking water imaginable--you can slice it with a knife and you don't drink it, you eat it.

But damned if it doesn't produce THE most tastiest, succulent, juicy, flavorful, heavenly delightful watermelons and cantaloupes in the world.

How do I know these all important facts? My mama was born and raised in the little town of Munday in Knox County and me and my rascal friends were stealing watermelons and cantaloupes from the age we could walk.

If someone tells you they were raised in Texas (or even the South) and never stole a watermelon or cantaloupe, they're either a damned liar or they was raised in the city.
